Match 1: I.R Iran 0 – 1 P.D.R Korea

It was a match filled with action as Iran take off North Korea in the first match.  There were many Iranis and Singaporeans at the grandstand supporting for the Iran team.  In this match, Iran had a strong defence but the North Korea had a even stronger and tighter defence which is almost unbreakable.  Iran tried to score countless times, but missed out a few good opportunities to score, some went too high up and a few shots got saved by the highly skilled North Korean goal keeper.

At half time, the score stands at 0 – 0.  However, the match starts to get heated up during the second half as North Korea subsitute, Player 6 Ryo Yu Song, managed to break into the defence of the Iran team and scored a goal at the 76th minute of the game.  This victory will send North Korea competing in the grand finals.

Match 2: Republic of Korea 2 – 0 China

There are lots of Koreans in the stadium grandstand supporting for the South Korean team while the Chinese have a small group of supporters sitting at the other corner of the open air cheering for their team.

This is a match between 2 giants and it prove to be a very challenging one.  However, the South Korean team have better stamina and power to outwit and outlast the Chinese team.  At the 14th minute, South Korean player 20, Suh Myeongwon scored a fantastic goal which took China by surprise.  At the middle of the game, both teams were playing at their best to try to score but the defence of both teams are too strong.  It was until the 82nd minute, South Korea managed to score another goal with a penalty kick setting the score at 2 – 0 at the end of the game.

The victory of South Koreans will have them up against North Korea in the finals to see who will be able to clinch the gold medal.  The finals will be played at Jalan Besar stadium on the 6th July, 7.30pm.
